This thread is your chance to discuss... I said discuss.. not argue... LOL  about who you think would make a good foe and candidate to run against Obammy.

Now here are the rules.....

NO Mittsarahnewthuckronrudypawlentysantorumbachmanbush.......

I don't want a thread about what all the pundits want.

I know a lot of people here, lean toward someone, in the above group of candidates, and I am not asking you to waver, just to look outside the box above for someone else Wink

Find a viable candidate that isn't already in the mix.

I want fresh meat that might actually have a chance.... Are you with me yet?

I want you all to vet people(new people) that would promote fiscal responsibility and loves our country.

This is not an abortion thread!!

This is the person that can unite and bring our country back from the brink of ruins!  Someone not afraid to say no the spending in congress. Someone who will stand up for us against other nations.  Forget about the social stuff.. just for the moment.. Think of reclaiming our super power status..  We do need a conservative, in the fact that we will have more Supreme court judges to appoint.

But again, leave the abortion debate at the door.. it is a red herring..  Yes Prolife is great and I am a prolifer.... but unless we regain our power and turn the country back over to the people and the states.. you all can forget that!

Be prepared to back up your choice with facts and Bios...

Again.. this is a discussion thread. This is not a bash the candidate thread.

And one more time, this is not a debate on abortion..  Casey the senator from PA is prolife.. so what? That has helped the country how?

Being Prolife does not mean the candidate is going to vote and do what you want.

So all this being said...

Who do you like and why?

Convince us all!  Cheesy

One last thing... I don't want to hear about the above mentioned people on this thread!!! It will lead to bashing and hatred on all sides....
We are looking for someone we can all say.. Hey, He/she would be a good candidate!

Here are a few people I have researched and listened to and will just throw the names out here for now...

Bob McDonnell, Gov. of VA  - awesome job on balancing the state budget
Chris Christie,   Gov. of NJ   -  dittos, hopefully the Nj dem mob won't snuff him out!
Mitch Daniels,   Gov of IN  - fiscal conservative
Bobby Jindal,    Gov. of LA... who has stepped up to the plate on the oil spill, whether we liked him or not on the GOP address.

These are my choices.. but i won't do the bios and reasons, because some of you may agree with 1,2,3,4  of my choices.

Now in the end we may see a Mittsarahnewthuckronrudypawlentysantorumbachmanbush, candidate, but let's explore other possibilites first!

I want to see research!  When we all can come to a couple of people, I will submit it to the news people we know and see if we can make a difference.

Come on guys!! We have some of the brightest right leaning posters on the web!  Let's see what you can do Wink

OK, here are three names, but none stand a snowball's chance in hell.  As I have said before, it takes $50 million to win the GOP primary and there are only 4 Republicans who have access to that kind of cash: Romney, Jeb Bush, Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney.  Republicans are not like the Democrats.  They never nominate people from the bullpen.

Antonin Scalia - Justice of the Supreme Court
Glenn Beck - Talk show host and political gadfly
Rick Santelli - Commodities Broker and CNBC talking head

Chris Christie #1 choice - Fiscal Conservative (but he wont' run for president and has said so and I don't blame him.)
General Petraeus #2 choice - level headed and not a politician (but he wont' run for president either)
Condi Rice - as the first female Republican president - she is smart as a whip and has national experience.  (but I know that won't happen)

SIGH!!  All the others just bore me to death!

The regular list of people that are constantly polled and we all know who they are is generally a "LIST OF PEOPLE WHO WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT".  And we all know underneath when it comes down to it that the American people will never vote them in office as bad as OBMUMMER is.   And I could not care less if they run for dog catcher or not.   They are the ones who have stars in their eyes, egos as big as the planet, and will run in 2012 and we are stuck with them.  UGH!

Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin's 1st District is quickly becoming a rock star in my book.  His presence in the primary now would raise the level of discussion immensely regarding the deficit and our national debt.  This guy is sharp.  Maybe 2020?

Right now, Paul Ryan is the only one I see who has conservative ideals and can clearly enunciate them, young and just starting to get national recognition, so probably would have to do VEEP first....

Chris Christie has a lot to recommend him, but has his weaknesses in a national race.

I'm wondering if Jan Brewer could end up the dark horse thanks to the AZ Immigration debacle, she has proven she has the guts to stand for what the citizens want and fight, this is quickly bringing national attention to her and American's like a President with a strong backbone...... I think she could end up trumping Christie taking on the unions by her taking on the ACLU, and the Federal Government......

I'm really proud of BOTH McDonnell and Christie since they've taken office...just listened to part of WRVA-1140's monthly call-in show with Governor McDonnell and he comes off as extremely level-headed and well-spoken, but I think he may actually qualify as a committed ReaganConservative (btw...yes, he whupped that budget's a$$, didn't he?  And no tax raises were required.)  Still, I think both--like Sarah--need to complete their gubernatorial requirements prior to seeking higher office.

Mitch Daniels?  Haven't heard much...will read if anybody's got more insight on his performance to date.

And Bobby Jindal...I like this dude's future, and I think he did the right thing in calling out the Federal Bureaucracy's absolute incompetence and unweildiness regarding the Gulf Oil Bunglefest.  I'd say he's definitely in the running, but when does his LA Gov term end?

A coupla names who I think need to be in the mix...Haley Barbour and George Allen.

And someone whom I'd like to see as Veep?  Thomas Sowell.

Regards...MUD

Sorry he is NOT in the GOP.

Same for Tancredo, Buchanan, Barr.

Going 3rd party is a career boltering move.  Many get fooled by these selfish men.
